Following the exhibition “Catalyst” at De Brakke Grond, Hotel Mariakapel offered to four of the participating artists a two-week residency period – not with the aim of creating new works, but to give the artists a concentrated opportunity to process the input received during the dialogues that took place during the exhibition itself. The four resident artists were selected by Angela Serino and Tessa Giblin (Catalyst’ exhibition curators), Fleurie Kloostra (De Brakke Grond) and Danielle van Zuijlen (Hotel Mariakapel). The residency resulted in a public event at Hotel Mariakapel on 15 October, whereupon the artists presented sound and video installations, wall pieces and conversations, developed during the two-week residency.
